Welcome to the April housing report for Barnsley. April was our first full month, and what an amazing month it has been. Thank you to everyone who has put their property on the market with us, viewed our properties and made enquiries.

With Brexit (sorry, that word again!) apparently on the back burner, the housing market seems to have come to life. Let’s take a closer look at what happened in the Barnsley market (S70-S75) during April:

During that time, 318 properties were sold subject to contract. A breakdown of the sales is as follows:

Up to £125,000 – 172 properties
£125,001 – £250,000 – 117 properties
£250,001 – £500,000 – 28 properties
Over £500,001 – 1 properties

Sales under £125,000 made up 54% of the total sales. The sales between £125,001 and £250,000 accounted for 37% of the sales and the rest were above that figure.

What were the most popular house types?

Barnsley has a diverse breakdown of house types. In April, the most popular house type sales were as follows:

Terraced /townhouse– 110 sales (35%)
Semi-detached – 107 sales (34%)
Detached – 59 sales (18%)
Bungalows – 20 (6%)

Other – 22 sales (7)*

The total sales for April were slightly higher than March. Confidence appears to remain high and the spring bounce looks to have taken off.
